On 19 August 2024 Nicaragua’s Ministry of the Interior published Acuerdo Ministerial 38-2024-OSFL cancelling the legal personality of 1,500 non-profit organisations, including hundreds of religious associations, and ordering movable and immovable assets to the state. ## Context

Law 1115 and Law 1127 sat as parents. [Murillo](/people/rosario-murillo)’s office announced a ‘new model of operativity’ that week requiring remaining organisations to work only in alliance with state entities. María Amelia Coronel Kinloch signed. She remains unresolved. Murillo did not sit as every Interior clerk.
