# Wilders leads a ‘fewer Moroccans’ chant after municipal elections

Date: 2014

On 19 March 2014 [Wilders](/people/geert-wilders) asked a room whether they wanted fewer Moroccans and led the chant. A discrimination trial followed; later appeals altered penalties. The speech is a completed public act.

At a party gathering on 19 March 2014, Geert Wilders asked supporters whether they wanted more or fewer Moroccans; the crowd chanted for fewer, and Wilders responded that this would be arranged. The Hague Court of Appeal later found him guilty of group insult, while acquitting him of incitement to hatred or discrimination, and imposed no punishment. In July 2021 the Dutch Supreme Court left the group-insult conviction in place.
