Nineteenth-century gymnasium and public-school Latins issued expurgated [Ovid](/people/ovid), cutting sexual violence and Ars while keeping a polite myth book.

## Context

Expurgation can protect children and can also hide the poem’s ethics problem from discussion. Stored as a knowledge-control path of medium confidence on any one ministry circular.
