# Bronze foundries and related heavy workshops execute Picasso sculptures as industrial jobs

Date: 1950

## The fact

By 1950 [Picasso](/people/pablo-picasso)’s large sculptures were being cast in industrial foundries as fuel-and-metal jobs. This Fact stores that industrial-energy input, not a 1937 mural (paint on canvas) and not a national energy statute.

## Context

Driver fit is analogical. Confidence medium. Still a real workshop: bronze is not a drawing. Labour of founders overlaps the assistants row.

Pablo Picasso is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.

## Evidence and sources

Musée Picasso Paris sculpture collections and Tate’s sculpture holdings independently document foundry-cast public works.

Official or archival record: Musée Picasso Paris (https://www.museepicassoparis.fr/en; Musée national Picasso-Paris).

## Significance

Industrial-input path. Medium confidence.

A bronze is not Guernica’s paint. Keep 1937 canvas as humanitarian, 1950 bronze as metal.

## What is established and what is not

Established: foundry-cast Picasso sculptures as industrial jobs. Not established: a kWh series, or that he ran a utility.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.
