# Interior Ministry takes over public education under Pintér

Date: 2022

From 24 May 2022 public education moved into [Sándor Pintér](/people/sandor-pinter)'s Interior Ministry, while higher education went to the new culture and innovation ministry. Teachers' unions PSZ and PDSZ protested the step, warning that the Interior Ministry might run schools with command-style methods, and kept pressing for pay rises and the right to strike.
