# Teachers protest under Pintér's education oversight

In 2022 Hungarian teachers held strikes and civil-disobedience protests over pay and a decree limiting the right to strike, while [Sándor Pintér](/people/sandor-pinter) oversaw public education. In May the governing parties moved to make the restrictive decree permanent despite union protests, and in late September several teachers at Budapest's Kölcsey Ferenc Gimnázium were dismissed for taking part in civil disobedience.
