# Mohsin Naqvi attends KP Apex Committee after governor's rule

On 12 October 2026, a day after emergency and governor's rule were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal Interior Minister [Mohsin Naqvi](/people/mohsin-naqvi) attended the provincial Apex Committee meeting in Peshawar. The official Governor House account says Governor Faisal Karim Kundi chaired the meeting, which brought together senior civil officials and military commanders. The committee backed coordinated counterterrorism action, continued intelligence-based operations and additional capacity for the KP police and the Counter-Terrorism Department. The meeting framed the federal intervention as a security response to worsening militancy, the central justification the federal government gave for suspending the PTI-led provincial administration.
