# Constitutional Tribunal rules out abortion for severe fetal defects

On 22 October 2020 the remade [Constitutional Tribunal](/organizations/constitutional-tribunal) struck the severe-defect ground, producing a near-ban. Protests followed. The ruling is a completed judicial act of a court PiS had reconstructed while [Morawiecki](/people/mateusz-morawiecki) was premier.
