# Nawrocki sends fuel windfall-tax law for constitutional review

President [Karol Nawrocki](/people/karol-nawrocki) referred legislation taxing extraordinary profits from liquid-fuel sales to Poland's [Constitutional Tribunal](/organizations/constitutional-tribunal) before signature. His office argued that the law raised a serious non-retroactivity issue because it would tax extraordinary margins for a period beginning before the measure entered into force. The Energy Ministry said the referral prevented the measure from taking effect pending review and delayed roughly 4 billion zlotys of projected revenue intended to support fuel-price relief.
