# Nawrocki signs energy windfall-tax bill

President [Karol Nawrocki](/people/karol-nawrocki) announced that he had signed a windfall-tax bill targeting extraordinary energy-sector profits. Reuters subsequently reported that Poland's fuel-price cap and the approved tax were expected to reduce near-term inflation pressure after a sharp rise in fuel prices. This is a separate completed legal act from the July constitutional referral and must not overwrite it.
