# Péter Polt returns as Hungary's prosecutor general

In December 2010 the Fidesz-majority parliament elected [Péter Polt](/people/peter-polt) prosecutor general for a second time, by secret ballot with 271 votes in favour and 91 against, for a nine-year term. Fidesz and KDNP backed him unanimously while the Socialists and Jobbik opposed. Critics accused his office of failing to pursue corruption cases involving government allies.
