# Rubio announces India and Uzbekistan trip focused partly on energy cooperation

The State Department announced that Secretary of State [Marco Rubio](/people/marco-rubio) would travel from 17 to 22 October 2026 to India and Uzbekistan. The Indian Express reported that he would first go to Samarkand for the C5 ministerial, then visit Mumbai and Jamnagar, with energy cooperation among the subjects of his India meetings, at a time when U.S.-India ties were strained by Russian energy purchases, trade disputes and the wider effects of the Iran war on fuel markets.
