The Russian Federation launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. UNHCR reports that the invasion and full-scale war produced the world's fastest-growing displacement crisis since the Second World War; by the end of 2022 it recorded about 5.9 million internally displaced people and 5.7 million refugees and asylum-seekers from Ukraine.
