# Senate confirms Selig as CFTC chairman

On 18 December 2025 the [US Senate](/organizations/us-senate) confirmed [Michael Selig](/people/michael-selig) as CFTC chairman by 53 votes to 43, in an en bloc vote on several nominations. [President Trump](/people/mig-donald-trump) had nominated him on 27 October 2025, and Selig was sworn in as the commission's 16th chairman four days after the vote.
