# Trump nominates Michael Selig to chair the CFTC

On 27 October 2025 [President Donald Trump](/people/mig-donald-trump) nominated [Michael Selig](/people/michael-selig) to be Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The [White House](/organizations/white-house) sent the nomination to the Senate days later, which confirmed him on 18 December 2025; he was sworn in as the agency's 16th chairman on 22 December.
