# Selig sworn in as 16th CFTC chairman

On 22 December 2025 [Michael Selig](/people/michael-selig) was sworn in as the 16th Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the US derivatives regulator. He had been nominated by [President Trump](/people/mig-donald-trump) on 27 October 2025 and confirmed by the Senate on 18 December 2025, and the agency announced his swearing-in in a press release.
