# PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election

Date: 2025

## The fact

On 3 May 2025 the [People’s Action Party](/organizations/people-s-action-party) under [Lawrence Wong](/people/lawrence-wong) won 87 of 97 elected parliamentary seats, his first general election as prime minister. Reuters recorded 65.57 percent of the popular vote, up from 61.2 percent in 2020. The Workers’ Party held ten elected seats. Five PAP seats were uncontested.

## Context

ELD ran the vote. GRC structure sat. He led PAP. Pritam Singh’s Workers’ Party contested and held Aljunied and other ground. Pritam Singh is unresolved. A supermajority is still a dated retention instrument.

The 2024 oath is the neighbouring opening. The 20 December 2024 POFMA designation is a neighbouring [civic-space](/drivers/civic-space) row on the same premiership. Keep PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election on 2025-05-03 separate from neighbouring 15 May 2024 oath, 4 December 2024 PAP secretary-general election, 3 May 2025 general election, and 20 December 2024 POFMA designation.

The Prime Minister of Singapore is appointed by the President after commanding Parliament’s confidence, chairs the cabinet, and, from 4 December 2024, is also PAP secretary-general. He does not sit as the High Court on a POFMA appeal, does not write Elections Department returns as if he were the returning officer, and does not invent a unique execution integer here. A National Day Rally is not a statute. A GRC win is not a two-party opening.

## Evidence and sources

Elections Department Singapore carries the official instrument or communique. Reuters records the same dated act independently.

## Significance

The path is the owned PAP-succession driver: a completed first-as-PM election records supermajority retention under GRC structure.

## What is established and what is not

Established: PAP won 87 of 97 elected seats on 3 May 2025 under Wong as PM, independently reported; Workers’ Party held ten elected seats.

Not established: that the playing field was perfectly even, or a unique later turnout coefficient as Contribution.size.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, a later repeal, a court that vacated the instrument, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.

Voters chose. ELD declared. Opposition contested. Five seats were uncontested.. A later repeal, court stay, or successor order would be a different Fact with a different date. That pair identifies PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election, not a later speech about PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election.

Co-authors and later implementers named in Context remain on the file. PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election on 2025-05-03 is not a licence to treat every later Elections Department Singapore communique as this same act. If a later repeal, stay, or successor instrument exists, it needs its own date and its own row. This dossier refuses to average PAP under Wong wins 87 of 97 elected seats at the 2025 general election into a personality. The contribution described on this Person row is limited to He led PAP. Voters chose. ELD declared. Opposition contested. Five seats were uncontested. That limit is the alternative to treating office-holding as authorship of every later series.
