# Stumpf elected to the Constitutional Court

Date: 2010

In July 2010 the Fidesz-majority parliament elected [István Stumpf](/people/istvan-stumpf), Orbán's former chief of staff, a Constitutional Court judge, together with Mihály Bihari. The opposition questioned his legal qualifications, arguing he lacked the 20 years of legal practice required by law even counting his time as chancellery minister, but the governing majority found him suitable.
