# Pravda announces the Doctors’ Plot arrests Date: 1953 ## The fact On 13 January 1953 Pravda announced the arrest of a group of mostly Jewish Kremlin doctors accused of murdering Zhdanov and planning to kill other leaders. The campaign included dismissals, a planned public trial, and talk of deportations. [Stalin](/people/joseph-stalin) died on 5 March; the case was declared false in April. Later speeches, the cult, and measured deaths are not mixed into this Fact. ## Context The 1948–53 anti-cosmopolitan campaign and the 1952 Night of the Murdered Poets sit in the same antisemitic cluster.
