# Artem Sytnyk appointed first director of NABU

On 16 April 2015 President [Petro Poroshenko](/people/petro-poroshenko) appointed 35-year-old lawyer [Artem Sytnyk](/people/artem-sytnyk) as the first director of Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine on the day of the decree. Sytnyk went on to lead the bureau for a full seven-year term, which ended in April 2022.
