# Szájer drafts Hungary's 2011 Fundamental Law

Fidesz MEP [József Szájer](/people/jozsef-szajer) led the drafting of Hungary's new constitution, the Fundamental Law, chairing the governing parties' drafting committee and preparing the text in early 2011. Parliament adopted it on 18 April 2011 with 262 votes in favour, 44 against and one abstention.
