# Szájer quits Fidesz

On 2 December 2020 [József Szájer](/people/jozsef-szajer) left Fidesz after the Brussels party scandal, announcing it in a one-sentence letter to party director [Gábor Kubatov](/people/gabor-kubatov). Prime Minister Orbán said Szájer's conduct did not fit the values of the party's political community and that resigning his seat with an apology and quitting the party had been the only right decision.
