# Albanian student protests continue into a second day

Albanian students returned to the streets of Tirana on 14 October 2026 for a second day of protests over education and jobs, after the previous day's demonstration at the Education Ministry ended in clashes, 23 arrests and injuries to six police officers and a journalist. Al Jazeera footage showed renewed confrontation between students and police. The students' demands remained focused on university conditions, tuition costs, financial support and employment prospects, alongside calls for Prime Minister [Edi Rama](/people/edi-rama) to resign. The government had not announced a policy response to the demands by the end of the second day.
