# European Parliament committee blocks Trócsányi as commissioner

On 30 September 2019 the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee confirmed, by 12 votes to 9, that Hungary's commissioner nominee [László Trócsányi](/people/laszlo-trocsanyi) had a conflict of interest linked to his former law firm, blocking his hearing. The committee had first examined him on 26 September; Hungary then nominated [Olivér Várhelyi](/people/oliver-varhelyi).
