# Trump cancels agreed October 16 deposition in his BBC lawsuit

[President Donald Trump](/people/mig-donald-trump) cancelled an agreed 16 October 2026 deposition in the $10 billion lawsuit he filed against the BBC in Florida in December 2025 over a Panorama edit of his 6 January 2021 speech. His lawyers told the broadcaster he was unavailable because of 'matters of national importance' and suggested the second or third week of January 2027, well after the deadline for completing discovery. The BBC's lawyers had pledged to keep the location of the deposition confidential. The BBC apologised for the edit but is contesting the lawsuit.
