# UNESCO inscribes Tesla’s Belgrade archive on the Memory of the World Register

Date: 2003

## The fact

In 2003 UNESCO added [Nikola Tesla](/people/nikola-tesla)’s Archive, held in Belgrade, to the Memory of the World Register. The museum independently records the same listing.

## Context

Memory listings can preserve papers and can feed a cult that erases Ferraris, Lamme and Westinghouse. A separate worsening row stores cult flattening.

Nikola Tesla is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.

## Evidence and sources

UNESCO’s Memory of the World page and the Tesla Museum heritage-protection page independently date the 2003 inscription.

Official or archival record: UNESCO Memory of the World — Nikola Tesla's Archive (https://www.unesco.org/en/memory-world/nikola-teslas-archive; UNESCO).

## Significance

Documentary-access path. High confidence on the listing.

A register is not a coil. Do not treat 2003 as 1888.

## What is established and what is not

Established: 2003 Memory of the World inscription of the Belgrade Tesla archive. Not established: that UNESCO certified every later wireless-power claim in the popular file.

What would change the picture: a contradictory original with a different date or name, or a measured series that can be argued, with lag and alternatives, as a consequence of this instrument rather than of later institutions.

The date is the date of this instrument, not a licence to back-date every later harm or benefit.
