In 1911 the remaining [Edison](/people/thomas-edison) enterprises were consolidated as Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated. It is a corporate-organisation Fact after GE had already taken the lighting-system core in 1892.

## Context

The 1911 firm is not General Electric. Phonographs, batteries and cement were the surviving lines. Later sale and decline of those lines are not this incorporation date.

Thomas Edison is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
