# Thomas Massie files eight impeachment articles against Pete Hegseth

Date: 2026

On 15 September 2026, Representative Thomas Massie introduced a privileged resolution containing eight articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary [Pete Hegseth](/people/pete-hegseth). Four articles concerned the Iran war and alleged violations of congressional war powers. The filing initiated a House political and constitutional process; it did not establish criminal liability and did not itself remove Hegseth from office. The measure was distinct from H.Res.1177, an earlier impeachment resolution introduced by Representative Yassamin Ansari on 15 April 2026.
