# Mike Johnson warns Democratic House would launch Trump investigations

Date: 2026

House [Speaker Mike Johnson](/people/mike-johnson) used a 13 October 2026 Fox News appearance to warn that Democratic control of the House would lead to congressional investigations. The warning echoed his broader campaign argument that committees could focus on [President Donald Trump](/people/mig-donald-trump), Trump's family and administration officials if Democrats take the majority. Independent reporting supports the premise that Democrats are planning substantial oversight, including inquiries into alleged corruption and executive conduct, while also preparing an affordability-focused legislative agenda. The fact records Johnson's political statement and the documented oversight context; it does not presume that future investigations would be justified or abusive.
