On the night of 28 July 2024, into 29 July, CNE president [Elvis Amoroso](/people/elvis-amoroso) announced that [Nicolás Maduro](/people/nicolas-maduro) had won the presidential election with about 51 percent against about 44 percent for the opposition ticket, citing roughly 80 percent of tallies transmitted, and did not publish precinct-level results. Opposition organisations published polling-station actas showing a different winner. It is not the opposition acta compilation and not the Carter Center finding. Those are neighbouring statuses.
