# Politik als Beruf teaches charisma as a leadership source in a defeated Germany

Date: 1919

## The fact

On 28 January 1919, in the same Munich lecture that defined responsible politics, [Max Weber](/people/max-weber) taught charisma as a source of legitimate domination beside machine and tradition, a vocabulary a defeated public could hear as a call for a leader as well as a warning. He warned about the ethic of conviction. He also glamourised vocation and leader-selection. Later misuses are reception; the 1919 text still names charisma as political fuel.

## Context

Bavaria had just had Eisner. Students wanted a saviour. Weber offered a colder fire that still burned. Sharing the Bund’s hall does not erase the typology. Do not treat 1933 as this 1919 night, and do not wash the night of 1933 with a 1919 warning.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Charisma in 1919 is not the suffrage writings of 1918. Mixed effects of Politik als Beruf teaches charisma as a leadership source in a defeated Germany are separate paths.

## Significance

Polarisation path of modest weight, medium confidence on uptake. The responsibility-ethic gain remains the split row.

The contribution type is direct. The attached driver is [political-polarization](/drivers/political-polarization). The welfare reading used in this dossier is worsening. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

## What is established and what is not

Established: the 1919 Politik lecture teaches charisma as a political source. Not established: that a named later dictator cited this night as a manual. Contribution is recorded as He taught charisma, machine, and responsibility together. Students hungry for leaders heard the charismatic pole as well as the warning. The impact note is Public instruction in charismatic leadership during a revolution is a polarisation path, split from the same lecture’s responsibility ethic. The dated heading stays Politik als Beruf teaches charisma as a leadership source in a defeated Germany on 1919-01-28, not a later statue, UNESCO listing, or school film. Printers, unnamed clerks, and later editors may appear in the same file without becoming this instrument. Later competitions, monuments, and adaptations are refused as extra lifetime acts of this person on this date.

Shared responsibility is part of Politik als Beruf teaches charisma as a leadership source in a defeated Germany. Naming Max Weber does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1919-01-28 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.

If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.
