# Weber works on Economy and Society manuscripts for the Grundriss der Sozialökonomik

Date: 1914

## The fact

From about 1910, and with intensity around 1913–14, [Max Weber](/people/max-weber) wrote manuscript clusters for the Grundriss der Sozialökonomik later known as Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft, including domination, law, and city fragments, left unfinished at his death. Bureaucracy and charisma as teaching concepts sit in these drafts at modest weight. It is not a completed treatise and not a department.

## Context

Paul Siebeck’s handbook project organised many authors. Weber was one late, ill, perfectionist contributor. War in August 1914 interrupted the desk for lazarett duty. Sharing with the publisher and later editors is mandatory. Sharing is not a reason to pretend 1922 is 1914. Do not treat posthumous chapter order as his final will without MWG caution.

If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.

## Evidence and sources

MWG at https://www.mohrsiebeck.com/buch/max-weber-gesamtausgabe-mwg-alle-baende-9783161595219/ is the official edition that refuses a fake 1922-as-1914 unity. SEP at https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/weber/ independently warns that Economy and Society is a posthumous arrangement of lifetime manuscripts.

Official or archival record: Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe — Mohr Siebeck (https://www.mohrsiebeck.com/buch/max-weber-gesamtausgabe-mwg-alle-baende-9783161595219/; Mohr Siebeck / MWG).

## Significance

Education path of modest weight and medium confidence on any one chapter’s stop-date. High confidence the work was unfinished when he died.

Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.

## What is established and what is not

Established: Weber wrote WuG-related manuscripts in the 1910s, unfinished. Not established: that a 1922 table of contents is his 1914 autograph. Contribution is recorded as He wrote unfinished manuscript clusters for a handbook. Co-editors and later Marianne’s 1922 edition are other hands. The 1922 book is not a 1914 autograph HTML. The impact note is Lifetime handbook manuscripts on economy, domination, and law are a modest education path, dated as work in progress, not as a finished 1922 volume he signed. The dated heading stays Weber works on Economy and Society manuscripts for the Grundriss der Sozialökonomik on 1914-06-01, not a later statue, UNESCO listing, or school film. Printers, unnamed clerks, and later editors may appear in the same file without becoming this instrument. Later competitions, monuments, and adaptations are refused as extra lifetime acts of this person on this date.

The attached driver is edu-[digital-learning-access](/drivers/edu-digital-learning-access). The welfare reading used in this dossier is improving. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.

Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. Do not date the 1922 book as a 1914 HTML autograph. Mixed effects of Weber works on Economy and Society manuscripts for the Grundriss der Sozialökonomik are separate paths.

Shared responsibility is part of Weber works on Economy and Society manuscripts for the Grundriss der Sozialökonomik. Naming Max Weber does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1914-06-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.
