# Denis Sassou Nguesso

## Identity and office

Denis Sassou Nguesso has been president of the Republic of the Congo since 25 October 1997, and earlier from 1979 to 1992. He remains head of state. He does not write a Constitutional Court arrêt. Pascal Lissouba is named as a predecessor. He is not minted. The country on this page is the Republic of the Congo. It is not the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

State television on 17 March put him at 94.82 percent with 84.65 percent turnout. Closest named challenger Mabio Mavoungou Zinga was put at 1.48 percent.
