### Resignation over the clemency scandal

On 16 February 2024, Bishop Zoltán Balog resigned as ministerial president of the [Reformed Church in Hungary](/organizations/hungarian-reformed-church) over his role in a clemency case that had already produced a national political scandal. The church’s own statement said Balog left the synod presidency and that Dániel Pásztor would act in the role until the formal succession process.
