Billing & Subscription Terms
How billing, subscriptions, cancellations, and refunds work on Factrail. All payments are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record.
Last updated: 16 April 2026
1.Overview
These Billing & Subscription Terms ("Billing Terms") supplement the Terms of Use and govern the financial aspects of your relationship with [LEGAL_OPERATOR_NAME] when you subscribe to a paid tier of Factrail.
By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to these Billing Terms in addition to the general Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict between these Billing Terms and the Terms of Use regarding billing matters, these Billing Terms shall prevail.
These Billing Terms are effective as of 16 April 2026.
2.Plans & Pricing
Factrail offers the following subscription tiers:
Free Tier
- Up to 5 investigative analyses per calendar month.
- Access to core analytical features including the CAUSE scoring framework and evidence-sourced knowledge graphs.
- Standard processing priority.
- No payment information required.
Pro Tier
- Unlimited investigative analyses.
- Priority processing and access to advanced analytical features.
- Extended network graph capabilities and entity comparison tools.
- Monthly billing: US$14.00 per month.
- Annual billing: US$119.00 per year (equivalent to approximately US$9.92 per month, representing a saving compared to monthly billing).
Prices are displayed exclusive of applicable taxes. Your final charge may include VAT, sales tax, or other levies as determined by your location and calculated by our billing provider at checkout.
We reserve the right to introduce additional tiers or modify the features included in existing tiers. Feature changes that materially reduce the value of your current subscription will be communicated with reasonable advance notice.
3.Paddle as Merchant of Record
All paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record for Factrail. This means that Paddle is the entity that formally sells the subscription to you, handles payment processing, manages applicable tax obligations, and issues invoices and receipts.
When you subscribe to a paid plan, you enter into a direct contractual relationship with Paddle for payment purposes. Paddle's own terms of service and privacy policy apply to the payment transaction. We encourage you to review these documents.
[LEGAL_OPERATOR_NAME] remains responsible for the Service itself, including account provisioning, feature access, and customer support related to platform functionality.
4.Payment Processing
Paddle supports a range of payment methods, which may include credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and select regional payment methods depending on your location.
Your payment information is collected and stored directly by Paddle. [LEGAL_OPERATOR_NAME] does not store, process, or have access to your full payment card details. All payment data is handled in accordance with Paddle's security standards and PCI DSS requirements.
Charges will appear on your statement under the Paddle name or a descriptor that includes a reference to Factrail. If you do not recognise a charge, please check your Factrail account status before contacting your bank.
5.Recurring Billing
Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis according to the billing cycle you selected at checkout (monthly or annual).
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. The renewal charge will be at the then-current rate for your plan, which may differ from your original subscription price if a price change has taken effect (see Price Changes below).
If a recurring payment fails, Paddle may reattempt the charge using the same or an updated payment method on file. If payment cannot be collected after reasonable retry attempts, your subscription may be downgraded to the Free tier. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before any access change resulting from a payment failure.
6.Cancellation
You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at [BILLING_CONTACT_EMAIL].
Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features for the remainder of your current paid billing period. At the end of that period, your account will revert to the Free tier. No further charges will be applied after cancellation takes effect.
Cancellation does not retroactively affect charges already incurred. For partial-period refunds, please refer to the Refund Policy section below.
Any investigative analyses, saved dossiers, or other data associated with your account will remain accessible at the Free tier's feature level after downgrade, subject to storage limitations that may apply.
7.Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on new Pro subscriptions. If you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a full refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of your initial subscription purchase.
To request a refund under this guarantee, contact us at [BILLING_CONTACT_EMAIL] with your account email address and the reason for your request. Eligible refunds will be processed by Paddle to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.
The 14-day guarantee applies to the first billing cycle of a new Pro subscription only. It does not apply to:
- Subscription renewals (monthly or annual).
- Resubscriptions where you have previously claimed a refund under this guarantee.
- Situations where the account has been suspended or terminated due to a violation of the Terms of Use.
Outside the 14-day window, refunds are issued at our discretion on a case-by-case basis. We will consider the circumstances, including service disruptions or billing errors attributable to us.
8.Access Changes on Plan Transitions
Upgrading from Free to Pro: Access to Pro features is provisioned promptly upon successful payment. Your billing cycle begins on the date of the upgrade.
Downgrading from Pro to Free: Whether through cancellation, payment failure, or voluntary downgrade, your access to Pro-exclusive features will end at the conclusion of the current paid billing period. Your account, including previously generated analyses and saved data, will remain intact and accessible at the Free tier's feature level.
Switching billing cycles: If you switch from monthly to annual billing (or vice versa), the change will take effect at the start of your next billing period. Any remaining balance from your current cycle may be prorated at Paddle's discretion.
9.Price Changes
We may adjust subscription pricing from time to time. If we increase prices, we will provide at least thirty (30) days' advance notice before the new pricing takes effect for existing subscribers. Notice will be provided via email or through the Service.
Price changes apply to billing periods that begin after the effective date of the change. Your current billing period will not be affected. If you do not agree with a price increase, you may cancel your subscription before the next renewal date, and you will continue to have access through the end of your current paid period.
Promotional or introductory pricing, if offered, applies only for the specified duration and will revert to the standard rate upon expiration unless otherwise stated.
10.Billing Support
For billing enquiries, payment issues, invoice requests, or refund inquiries, please contact us at [BILLING_CONTACT_EMAIL].
For payment-specific issues (such as failed charges, payment method updates, or transaction disputes), you may also contact Paddle directly through the payment receipt or invoice you received. As the Merchant of Record, Paddle can assist with payment method management and transaction-level queries.
