Folarin Falana, known professionally as Falz, is a Nigerian musician, actor and trained lawyer whose public-accountability record includes visible participation in the 2020 #EndSARS movement against police brutality. On 8 October 2020, Nigerian outlets reported that Falz and Runtown led or joined protesters in Lagos calling for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and broader police reform. His role was that of a public mobilizer and participant, not commander of the decentralized movement. Falz used his public profile to amplify demands around SARS abuses, joined street protests and urged demonstrators to remain peaceful. The October 2020 protest cycle expanded far beyond celebrity participation and involved youth groups, civil society organizations and spontaneous local mobilization across Nigeria. Amnesty International later documented the movement within a longer pattern of allegations of torture, extortion and extrajudicial violence by SARS personnel. Falz's relevant contribution is therefore amplification and direct participation inside a larger rights movement.
