Record

During the Royal Commission, Sullivan publicly acknowledged the gravity of data on abuse and criticized past institutional behavior. ABC reported in February 2017 that, after church data were released, Sullivan described the findings as evidence of a profound breach of trust. In other interviews he argued that the era of the Church investigating itself was over and discussed redress and institutional response. His role was representational and reform-oriented: he did not adjudicate claims, set the Royal Commission's findings or personally control all dioceses and religious orders.
