On 27 September 2018 Senate Judiciary chairman Chuck Grassley presided over the hearing at which Christine Blasey Ford testified about her sexual misconduct allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who also testified. In his opening statement Grassley thanked both witnesses for appearing. The committee advanced the nomination the next day.
