After Leipzig studies, Leibniz received a doctorate in law at Altdorf in February 1667, following De Arte Combinatoria (1666). It is not the 1684 calculus paper.

Context

Britannica and the Akademie-Ausgabe portal independently date the Leipzig–Altdorf opening. Later school use of combinatorics is reception. He did not staff a modern computer-science faculty.

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below.

Conventional years are 1646–1716. Surviving public files are GWLB Nachlass pages, the Akademie-Ausgabe, SEP, and encyclopedias. Leibniz did not typeset those later pages. Later electronic computers are not this life.

What the sources establish

The Akademie-Ausgabe portal and Britannica independently describe the Altdorf doctorate and 1666 combinatorial print.

Established: Altdorf 1667 after Leipzig and 1666 print. Not established: a unique modern computing welfare path from 1666.

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz did not file a later UNESCO form, a later Loeb colophon, or a later museum label as a personal act.
