House Republicans remove Cheney as conference chair

On 12 May 2021 House Republicans voted to strip Liz Cheney of her role as chair of the Republican conference after she repeatedly rejected Donald Trump's false claim that the 2020 election had been stolen. Cheney had easily survived an earlier attempt to remove her, helped at the time by backing from other party leaders.
