On 21 October 2003 the Florida legislature passed 'Terri's Law', and Governor Jeb Bush used it the same afternoon to order Terri Schiavo's feeding tube reinserted, less than two hours after the vote. The tube had been removed nearly a week earlier at her husband's request under a court ruling. The Florida Supreme Court struck the law down in 2004.
