In 1739 Carl Linnaeus was among the founders of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm and served as its first president. A learned society is a cohesion path among elites, not a democratic assembly.
Context
Sweden’s Hats and Caps politics wanted economic science. Linnaeus’s useful-plants ideology fitted. He had just practised medicine in Stockholm and married Sara Elisabeth Moraea. Sharing founders does not erase the first presidency.
Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.
