By the 1594–95 court season William Shakespeare is visible as a principal member of the Lord Chamberlain's Men, the playing company licensed under Henry Carey, first Baron Hunsdon. Court payment records and later sharer documents place him among the adult actors who also owned the company's working capital. This is a completed affiliation with a licensed public company, not a later Victorian idea of a solitary genius. The company, not a ministry, staged the plays.
Context
London playing in the 1590s was a licensed, commercial, and frequently suspended trade. Plague closures, City hostility, and the need for a court patron made a stable adult company the difference between a one-off performance and a repertory. The Chamberlain's Men used James Burbage's Theatre in Shoreditch, then, after the 1598–99 timber move, the Globe in Southwark. Shakespeare's share is the mechanism of his income and of his control over how often a play was revived. Richard Burbage was the leading actor; John Heminges later kept the accounts. Those names belong in the record because a sharer is not a sole author of a company's season.
Why it matters
A resident dramatist-sharer in a licensed adult company is a public cultural institution in miniature. The welfare path is public access to vernacular drama — social cohesion through shared performance — not a literacy rate. The path is real and lagged: printed quartos and the 1623 Folio carry the repertory beyond the yard. It is not a government education statute.

What the sources establish
Folger Shakespeare Documented gathers the court and legal papers that name the Chamberlain's Men and, later, the King's Men. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's biographical pages summarise the same 1594 turning-point without treating Wikipedia as a source. Palladis Tamia (1598) names Shakespeare as a working dramatist among English playwrights; that is independent literary testimony, not a company minute. What the papers establish is membership and later housekeeper/sharer status. Wikipedia is not used as a causal source.
Established: Shakespeare was a Chamberlain's/King's Men sharer-playwright from the mid-1590s. Not established: that he founded the company alone; that every play in the later canon was staged in 1594; that public theatre raised measured school attendance. Alternative: other dramatists (Marlowe, Jonson, the Admiral's Men) supplied overlapping public drama.
The event remains dated 1594-12-26. Shakespeare's documented role is: He was a named sharer and resident dramatist, not a casual freelance supplier of plots. A stable adult company with a resident playwright increased public access to shared stories in English outside the court chapel. Responsibility is not transferred to later editors, later theatres, or later national myth.
