In spring 1863 the censors closed Vremya after an article on the Polish uprising (Strakhov’s, in a Dostoyevsky magazine). It is not Winter Notes and not Epoch’s later birth. Demo path: a thick journal killed. Mixed: the piece was not a liberal defence of Poland.
Context
Autocratic press law. Shared with Mikhail and Strakhov. The state’s authorship of the ban is why contribution is complex; the life still loses a public office. Distinct from later Diary, which learned to live with censors.
That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.
Why it matters
It is not a unique 1863 list of all banned titles.
Shared responsibility is part of Vremya is banned after the 1863 Poland article. Naming Fyodor Dostoyevsky does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1863-05-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.
