The Metropolitan Museum’s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History published a lasting public essay on Amarna, including the distinctive portraits associated with Nefertiti and Akhenaten. The essay is a completed educational instrument. It is not an excavation.

Context

Mass reproduction of the Berlin bust had already made a face famous. A museum essay that situates that face in Aten religion and workshop practice is a different, sourced access path.

Nefertiti is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.

Why it matters

Medium confidence on cohesion size.

An essay can correct tourist myth. It cannot return a bust.
