On 3 February 2019 Epiphanius, also known as Epifaniy, was enthroned as Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine at St Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. The ceremony made him primate of the recently established Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which had received its decree of independence from the Ecumenical Patriarch a month earlier.
