In 1802 Hegel’s essay Über die wissenschaftlichen Behandlungsarten des Naturrechts appeared in the Critical Journal, an early public treatment of ethical life, law, and the limits of abstract right. He argued in print; no diet adopted him. The row stores an early rights-and-law lesson. The 1821 restoration textbook is a different political weather and a different sign. The unpublished Verfassungsschrift remains a drawer neighbour.
Context
Careful of twins with the journal row: this is one signed argument about right, not the editorial office. Careful of twins with 1821: the later book is restoration state theory; 1802 is a Jena essay. Abstract right’s limits are already in view; popular sovereignty is not therefore enacted. Medium confidence on how far 1802 liberalises anything; high confidence the essay was printed.
That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself.
Why it matters
Medium-to-high confidence. Modest weight. Distinct from 1821’s demo-harm textbook. Journal founding remains the 1802 carrier row. Verfassungsschrift remains unpublished.
Shared responsibility is part of Hegel publishes the essay on natural right in the Critical Journal. Naming Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel does not delete co-authors, institutions, or later transmitters. The lag from 1802-12-01 to any measured indicator is not treated as zero. Alternative explanations — weather, other armies, later statutes, or independent cultural change — remain live where the sources do not close them.

What the sources establish
Jena is the journal’s city. SEP’s social-political entry independently treats the early natural-right essay as a dated public text before the Berlin Right. Official: https://www.uni-jena.de/en (opens in a new tab). Independent: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/hegel-social-political/ (opens in a new tab). The records establish the 1802 essay. They do not establish a unique later rights index. The 1821 textbook is not this Jena essay; a missing 1802 text would change the row. A showing the essay never appeared would change the row.
Established: Hegel published a natural-right essay in 1802 in the Critical Journal. Not established: that 1821 is this essay, or a unique later rights series. A missing 1802 essay would change the row.
If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.
Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, museums, and adaptations are not converted into extra lifetime acts.
Confidence is stated on the impact path, not hidden in adjectives. 1802 natural-right essay is not the 1821 Philosophy of Right. Mixed effects of Hegel publishes the essay on natural right in the Critical Journal are separate paths.
