Civic-religious regulation of festivals and workdays reshapes fuel and work rhythms
Genevan reform under Calvin’s influence abolished many traditional feast days and policed Sabbath work, reshaping household fuel and labour rhythms. The instrument is that calendar-and-work regulation, not a coal ministry. In the causal graph this event weakens Energy Security, a driver that strengthens Poverty headcount ratio at $3.00 a day (2021 PPP) (% of population) — an improving welfare path.

Context
Liturgical calendars have material effects. Archives heritage and the Cambridge Companion independently note feast abolition and Sabbath enforcement. Unique cordwood series are not invented here.
John Calvin’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below.
Conventional years are 1509–1564. Surviving public files are later museum pages, consistory editions, Meeter Center collections, and encyclopedias. Calvin did not typeset those later pages.
Why it matters
Medium confidence on fuel effects; high on feast abolition.

What the sources establish
Geneva archives heritage and the Cambridge Companion independently describe feast abolition and Sabbath work rules.
Established: many feasts were abolished and Sabbath work policed. Not established: a measured winter fuel shortfall uniquely caused by Calvin.
John Calvin did not file a later UNESCO form, a later Loeb colophon, or a later museum label as a personal act. Feast abolition is not the Ordinances text twin alone. Keep calendar policing off 20 November 1541 as a pure duplicate.
