By the mid-1550s refugee printing houses in Calvin’s Geneva formed a dated Reformed publishing centre issuing Bibles, tracts, and martyrologies. The instrument is that print-industry cluster, not the Institutes’ theology alone.

Context

Industrial publishing is shared with master printers. Reformation Museum and Meeter Center independently place Geneva’s print boom in this orbit. Later myth of a unique Calvin press monopoly is refused.

John Calvin’s documented role is bounded by other offices and collaborators named in the sources below.

Conventional years are 1509–1564. Surviving public files are later museum pages, consistory editions, Meeter Center collections, and encyclopedias. Calvin did not typeset those later pages.

What the sources establish

The Reformation Museum and Meeter Center independently describe Geneva’s mid-century Protestant printing industry.

Established: Geneva hosted a major Protestant printing cluster. Not established: that Calvin owned every press.

John Calvin did not file a later UNESCO form, a later Loeb colophon, or a later museum label as a personal act. Printing industry is not the Academy lecture hall twin. Keep presses off 5 June 1559 as a pure duplicate.
