Printed Eusebius (the 1544 Estienne Greek line and later NPNF English) transmits a letter on Christians killed at Lugdunum, conventionally in 177 CE while Marcus was emperor. This Fact stores that received persecution cluster as a statement. It does not convert a later church history into a Lyon court autograph signed by Marcus.
Context
Roman law on illegal collegia and on obstinate atheism is the usual mechanism. Later martyrology inflates. A medium-confidence row is required because the indictment is central to the emperor’s later welfare reading. It is not upgraded to a numbered massacre he spectated.
Marcus Aurelius is not the sole author of every later object, law, or museum label that uses the name. Shared work with courts, excavators, printers, spouses, officials, and later states does not erase a documented role, and it does not make an ancient person the signer of a twentieth-century statute.
Why it matters
Minority-rights path. Medium confidence on personal authorship of an order, high that the received record places the killings in the reign.
A hostile or hagiographic letter is not nothing. It is also not a signed warrant. Keep both clauses.

If the letter’s dating holds, the violence falls in his reign. Local magistrates and crowd are the received actors. Complex, not a verified autograph death-warrant.

What the sources establish
CCEL’s Eusebius and Britannica independently retell Lyon 177 in his reign. They are not a bronze tablet from the governor.
Established: the received Christian tradition records Lyon killings in Marcus’s reign.
Later competitions, monuments, translations, UNESCO listings, and museums are not converted into extra lifetime acts. That reading is an impact-path choice, not a property stored on the Fact itself. Confidence is stated on the impact path. A later English edition is not a recovered autograph. If a number is not in the two records named above, it is not supplied here.
